LUCOG

1.     History

            Lucog comprises seven sitios: namely, Balatoc, Balani, Lucog Proper, Asin, Pinagan, Pakkitan and Dulgadog.

 

            During the early part of the American regime, Balani was the site of the village government.

 

            The “Presidente” at that time was Diwayan Dakiwag, an uncle of Iluminada Duyan, widow of the late Congressman / Governor Juan M. Duyan.

 

            The municipal government site was transferred later to Macapel just below Bagumbayan The “Presidente” del Barrio was Dionicio Daodaoen. Lucog at that time was a vast cogonal land abundant with wild carabaos, deer and wild pigs. The municipal site was later transferred to Banat. The mayor of Tabuk at that time was Agustin Castro. During this period, the people of Naneng and other tribes flocked to Lucog up to Bantay to look for land. Lucog was then a sitio of Banat which, at that time, was the capital of Tabuk.

 

            The Municipal Government center was transferred to Tabuk under Mayor Agustin Castro. Lucog was then a sitio of Banat until Jaime Quirino took over as Mayor of Tabuk. At that time Lucog was separated from Banat as a regular barrio. The first elected Teniente del Barrio was Agagon Duga in the early part f 60s.

 

            Juan Massagan, a retired Capataz of the Bureau of Public Highways, took over as head of the barrio. Massagan was appointed Teniente del Barrio but he died of sickness and the people endorsed Anacleto Raguro as Barangay Captain of Lucog. Later, Tommy Dumlanos from sitio Pakkitan took over but was assassinated by the NPAs. Bibiano Layugan was installed as the Barangay Captain.

 

            Joseph   Bayubay succeeded Layugan after whom Lito Balutoc took over as Barangay Captain succeeded by his brother in law Leon Raguro as Barangay Captain. He sought for a second term but he was defeated by Villamor Sanadan unti November 2007. During the synchronize Barangay election on October 29, 2007 Sannadan reelect but he was defeated by Julio Baculi. During the synchronize Barangay election on 2010 Baculi was defeated also by Villamor Sannadan as a Barangay Captain of Lucog with the following Barangay Kagawads Virgilio Guasi, Pauino Taguibao, Cominic Raguro, Carter Sayaan, Irene Basitan, Ronald Duyan and Thomas Malaga, with the appointed Barangay Treasurer former Barangay Kagawad Wilson Maloc and Barangay Secretary fromer Barangay Kagawad Edward Alimani.
