DUPAG

History

Based on existing historical / oral records and accounts, Dupag Barangay was inhabited by people called Dupag and Minanga both of whom belong to the Naneng Tribe.

The upper part was inhabited by the Malbong Tribe. This group of people resided at Pingao (now part of Cagaluan, Pasil)  after which they moved down to Malbong near the confluence of the Chico and Pasil rivers driven by economic necessity and security as headhunting was rampant during those period.

It was during the early part of 1900s that other sitios were established as a result of inter-marriages between the original settlers. During this period, there were only three puroks namely: Tomiangan (Malbong), Dupag and Minanga.

It was also during this period that a certain Ottang of the Malbong tribe invited his relatives from Cagaluan in Pasil like Songga-ab, Baggas, and Imong to settle in Abbolegan before they finally moved to sitio Dao.

In 1940s, the first School, Dupag Elementary School was constructed in Sadog.

Upon the conversion of Tabuk as a regular municipality pursuant to Republic Act 533 on June 16, 1950, Dupag became one of its charter barangays.

The named Dupag was adopted as the name of the barangay since it is between Minanga and Tomiangan and also for the sake f consistency because a school was named as such.
