. Posted in Barangay Profiles

1.     History

Barangay Lanna was created by virtue of Resolution No. 839-68 of the Provincial Board of Kalinga- Apayao comprising the sitios of Lanna, Cagatakat and Isla.

It is bounded on the North by Corner Post of Lot 671, Pls-93; on the east by the Chico River; on the south by Tuga Creek; and on the west by Colasan Creek.

Long before the barangay of Tuga came into existence, Lanna was already populated. Early inhabitants enjoyed the rich natural resources of the place and so with their agricultural products, they had planted scores of coconut trees that made the place well known by the adjacent places and was then known as “lannaan” which means a coconut oil producing place. Lanna evolved from the word “lannaan”.

Avelino Leocadeo became the first barangay captain followed by Isidro Wa-ay (deceased), Rogelio Dao-wan, to the present barangay chairman Lester Lee Tarnate.

The creation of barangay Lanna ws in April 14, 1997 under the leadership of the late  Camilo Busque and Avelino Leocadeo and other optimistic people of Lanna, of which after a year, Lanna become a regular barangay.
