LACNOG

1.     History

            In the 1960s, a group of Kalingas of the Butbot tribe of Tinglayan came down to Tabuk and search for settlement. They found a place in the southern part of Tabuk Municipality, known as Lacnog, erstwhile within the Barrio of Agbannawag. Tribesmen built their own homes in the area and settled for more than 22 years sacrificing and working as a means of living up to the present. The completion of the Chico River Irrigation Dam in 1982 attracted more upland tribesmen to settle in Tabuk for a better way of living. Most transferees came to sitios of Lacnog, Madopdop, Bulo and some parts of Tabuk.  Agbannawag’s population swelled promting its officials to move for its division.

 

            During the term of Barangay Captain Basilio Remedios that was in 1984 to 1987, he worked out for the separation of sitio Bulo and sitio Lacnog. It was approved under the Administration of Provincial Governor William F. Claver in the same year. Thus these sitios were separated from the mother Barangay of Agbannawag, and Lacnog also became a separate barangay comprising sitios Dananao, Lacbot, New Balbalan, Katao, Loyucan, Lungayen, Kalbayan, San Pablo, Madopdop and Lanlanna, Barangay Lacnog has a total land area of approximately 1,641 hectares agricultural land, excluding the upland and forest area. The numbers of households are 806 with a population of more or less 4, 417 as of January 2011-barangay survey.

 

            The first OIC Barangay Captain was appointed in 1987 in the person of Hon. David Bugawit for almost one and a half years followed by Hon. Marcos Allib from 1988 to 1994 followed by Hon. Tadeo Dangani from 1994 to May 30, 1997 followed by Hon. Fidel Pan-oy who later ran and won as Municipal Councilor in 2001 followed by Hon. Jose Wacnang as OIC Barangay Captain for the months of June 2001 to July 2002 and also followed by Hon. Robert Olyaon from 2002 to November 30, 2007, followed by Hon. Roberto Dawangan from 2007 to November 30, 2010. On the synchronized SK and Barangay Election in October 2010 Hon. Walis Y. Ngaya-an won in the race and now he is a Barangay Chairman as of this date.

 

            Barangay Lacnog is located at the eastern part of the City of Tabuk and bounded on the north is Barangay Nambaran, on the south is Barangay Agbannawag and on the Southwest is Barangay Bulo and western part is the Barangay Bulanao.

 

            With the land area of approximately 1,641 hectares of agricultural rice fields, excuding the upand and forest area.

 

            Lacnog is along the national road with the distance of 18 kilometers away from the City Hall of Tabu and it takes 45 minutes to travel by ride. Most of the people is speaks our own dialect but Ilocano version is the CERTIFIED medium of understanding among the different sub tribe of Barangay Lacnog.

 

            The usual climate of Barangay Lacnog, City of Tabuk, and Kalinga Province are dry season and wet season.

 

            The sub-terrain of barangay Lacnog are 85% plain rice field 5% rolling hills and 10% of forest and mountains.

 

            The population of Barangay acnog based on the attest barangay census survey conducted by the Barangay Health Workers this 1st quarter of 2011 was 4,417 with the housedholds number of 806, with 12 religious building at different denomination, three (3) elementary schools, three (3) primary schools and nine (9) day cere centers.

 

            Health and nutrition of the community of Lacnog treated as 3% malnutrition with health categorically condition.

 

            Barangay Lacnog has no recreation and sport facilities much more that there is no government property or reservation area to put up said improvement.

 

            Protective services are the organization of the Lupong Tagapamayapa and barangay Tanod.
