1. History
Barangay Poblacion of the Municipality of Tabuk was divided into three barangay. Each was created and constituted as a separated, district and independent barangay, known as Barangay Casigayan, Barangay Centro and Barangay Dagupan Weste pursuant to Provincial Ordinance Number 85-05 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga-Apayao dated July 10, 1985 during the incumbency of Governor Amado Almazan.
Barangay Dagupan Weste is bounded in the North by Jose Abad Santos St., on the East of the Provincial Road, on the South by General Luna St. and on the West by the Chico River with a land area of 1,496812 square kilometers. Dagupan Weste is inhabited by different ethnic groups such as Ilocano, Bago, Kalinga, Ibanag, Tagalog, Visaya and Ifugao, Maranao, English and other minority groups from different places.
Barangay Dagupan Weste was created and constituted two Sitios namely: Sitio San Francisco from the South West and Sitio Hawaii from North-West.
Barangay Dagupan Weste of Tabuk Municipality was divided into six (6) Puroks:
Purok – 1 is located at the East of the Provincial Road, between Jose Abad Santos St. and Bonifacio St. and Roxas St. and/or where we can find the St. Jude Hospital; Purok – 2 between the Eastern part of Bonifacio St., West of Oroquieta St, North of Jose Abad Santos St. Purok – 3 between the East of Bonifacio St., West of Oroquieta St., North of Roxas St. and South of Daguitan St. or back of the Tabuk Central School where we can find the Dagupan Weste Barangay Hall and Day Care Center and Satellite Market Annex; Purok – 4 is between the East of Bonifacio St., West of Oroquieta St. and South of Quezon St., or back of the Tabuk National High School and Kalinga Apayao State College, Purok – 5 is between the East of the Provincial Road, West of Bonifacio St., North of Quezon St., and South of General Luna St., where we can fiind the Satellite Market or TAlipapa where we can find the Green Land Station. Purok – 6 is between the East of Bonifacio St., West of Oroquieta St., North of Quezon St. and South of General Luna St. where we can find the Anglican Church.
Barangay Poblacion of Tabuk Municipality is located at the Northern part of the old Dagupan bounded on the North by Jose Abad Santos St. on the East by the Provincial Road., on the South by General Antonio Luna St. and on the Weste Chico River.
Barangay Dagupan Weste is composed of eleven (11) Sts. And (6) Puroks (2) Sitios having a land area of 1.46812 sqare kilometers of which .23% of the Municipal land area which is 641,170 square kilometers.
The climate of the barangay is characterized by two pronounced season from January to May and rest of the months are rainy seasons.
Barangay Dagupan Weste is generally flat drained by the Namecbecan Creek which serves as the main source of irrigation of the area.
The soil classification of the barangay is loamy.
Dagupan Weste has a total population of 4484 and 999 households, inhabited by different ethnic groups such as Ilocano, Igorot, Bago, Kalinga, Ibanag, Tagalog, Visaya and Ifugao and other minority groups coming from different places.
Land use of Barangay Dagupan Weste is categorized as residential, agricultural, commercial and institutional use such as churches and schools etc.
Dagupan Weste has a total of Tabuk Water 295, Spring Water 5 and Deep Well/Pump Well 906.
Barangay Dagupan Weste has a total population of 4484 with 999 number of household.
Of the total household population female population is 50.848% and male population is 49.152%. This reflects that the outnumbered the female population by 2.230%.
