BULANAO NORTE

1.     History

           The separation of Bulanao Norte from Bulanao was brainchild of six government retirees who envisioned a faster pace of development for the area led by Lieutenant Miguel Balbin, Sr. and dates back to July 18, 2001 when they convened to initiate the division of Bulanao into three political divisions. A petition for this purpose was eventually submitted to the Sanggunian Bayan which in turn, indorsed the petition to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on March 12, 2002.

 

           On May 14, 2002, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed Resolution No. 2002-114 which enacted Ordinance No. 2002-02 creating Bulanao Norte. The ordinance set down the boundaries as follows: on northwest and east, by lines 40-41, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11, 11-12, 12-13, 13-14, 14-15, 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, 18-19, 19-20, 20-21, 21-22,22-23, 23-24, 24-25, 25-26,26-27, 27-28, 28-29, by the NIA Irrigation Canal and Baligatan Creek, respectively; on the northeast and east, by lines 29-30, 30-31, 31-32, 32-33, 33-34, 34-35, access road joining Lot Numbers 851, 843, 841, 829, 828, 827, 826, 825, 824, 823, 821, 820, 819, 818, 805 and 1161, Pls-93; on the southwest and south, by lines 35-36, 36-37, 37-38, Bulanao – Tuguegarao National Highway; and on the west by lines 38-40 by Bulanao – Dagupan Provincial Road.

 

           Bulanao voters   ratified the creation during the plebiscite on December 21, 2002 and the new barangay began its corporate existence on January 20, 2003 with the appointment by Mayor Camilo Lammawin, Jr. of its first set of officials namely, Miguel Balbin, Sr. as barangay chairman and Benjamin Pimentel, Gavino Itay, Sr., Rogelio Marcelino, Juan Naganag, Tranquilina Espita, Paulino Berbon and Daniel Leusen as barangay kagawads.
