Sabangan, Mountain Province (1 August) -- The Sangguniang Bayan of this municipality legislated its condemnation of the killing of a resident of Tulgao, Tinglayan, Kalinga in Madepdeppas, Data, Sabangan on 23 July 2009. According to records of the Sabangan Municipal Police Station, the suspect who is from Madepdeppas allegedly killed a native of Tulgao on the night of July 23 and stabbed the latter's companion the day after. The two natives of Tulgao were in the area to sell bolos and winnowers. The suspect voluntarily surrendered on July 24 and is now confined at the provincial jail. A case of murder was filed against him in court. |

Tabuk City (27 July) -- Gearing up for the indigenous people's month celebration this coming October, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the provincial government will sponsor 20 performers from the province to participate in the week-long Dungog: Indigenous People's Month Festival 2009 in Roxas City in Capiz. During a meeting convened by Commissioner Domingo Bakilan of the Sub Commission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts (SCCTA), the group has agreed to present the Barogway (a wedding ritual) of the Pangol cultural communities during the event. |

Tabuk, Kalinga (27 July) -- Antuza Refalda, a small entrepreneur from the province, who developed under the government's livelihood program through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is invited to attend President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address, July 27 in Congress. Refalda joined other beneficiaries of Maraming Salamat, Pangulong Gloria Program from all over the country, Testimonial given them by President Gloria Arroyo at Malacanang last July 15.
